Beginners now learn English with Kantoo Basic!

Kantoo is proud to launch Kantoo Basic, an innovative service that is dedicated to beginners and new English learners. Kantoo Basic is a unique and fun way to start learning English conversation, grammar and vocabulary skills, by combining voice recorded IVR lessons, SMS exercises and a lively Facebook page. Users study at their own pace in the company of native English speakers and Fernanda and Julio, two Brazilian English instructors who entertain everyone through radio ‘talk show’ style lessons.
Users will discover a wide range of topics which will help them acquire new words and practice conversations suitable for real-life situations.

These customers can enjoy the service daily episodes, paying only per minute standard call charges, without any need to register to the service. The service is offered to all the 18 Million customers of WIND, at a weekly subscription price of 2 Euros. The first week is offered for free - so customers may try and experiment the service without any charge. The service is composed of weekly episodes, each of which includes an exciting drama from a soap opera, a practice area, and a quiz area which offers prizes to winners. Every week the users can listen to the new episode and then practice and test their English, as many times as they want, without extra charge. The service is offered to both beginner or intermediate English levels, according to the users' choice, and uses a mix of English and Portuguese. Kantoo English was enrolled as Brazil's sole candidate for "m-learning & education" category in the esteemed World Summit Award (WSA) Mobile award contest. The WSA is a U.N project with the goal of spreading IT access and connectivity around the world. For the WSA-mobile award, U.N mobile content industry experts from 160 countries have submitted the best mobile content / application from their country (only 1 product per category from each member country is allowed). The evaluation criteria are tied to the concept of excellence in content and creativity. Winners are expected to be announced in December 2010

Between March and May, VIVO-Kantoo offered its English m-learning customers the option to win a trip (for 2) to the 2010 World Cup games in South Africa. The winner of this World Cup tour was a public sector employee, Mrs Sonia do Nascimento (52), who stated: "My son, Hugo, 10 years old, is learning English at school. I wanted to follow him and learn as well". After learning with Kantoo English, she participated in the competition, won the prize, and took her son, Hugo, to South Africa, to practice their English while supporting Brazil.

In a recent personal phone survey that took place in Venezuela, Kantoo English received great feedback from hundreds of customers. Some of the feedback provided included: "Kantoo English is a very good method for learning English." (94%), "Downloading it is simple." (81%), and "The audio and images are great." (72%).
We will continue to remain in touch with our customers in order to make sure the program answers its promise. -
